Therefore at this time, the Nazarite disciples had finally received spiritual revelation that they were indeed walking with the ultimate Nazarite, the Son of God, and as such, He gave them the new vow of commission, that their lives must be transformed by the power of God, separate from the traditional religion of the Temple. So, after such revelation and commission, they were separated for six days, and on the seventh day…
And after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, and brought them up into a high mountain apart, and was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. And behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elijah talking with them. Then, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid. And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.
And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only. And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead. And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elijah must first come? And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elijah truly shall first come, and restore all things.
This narrative is Rife with Symbolism, yet basically three significant truths quickly transpired, showing the complete unity of this radical agenda; thus, He showed these neophyte Nazarites this:
1) Moses and the Law would now take a back seat to grace and truth by Jesus Christ — all in unity. 2) Moses and Elijah were transfigured with Jesus to show the disciples the complete concord of this age-abiding work. 3) Add to this the testimony of the Father: This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
This was confirming the New Covenant work of God, in which the Levitical priesthood, instituted by Moses, would be replaced by the Nazarite born again calling, instituted by Elijah, or actually BOTH Elijah's. Two you say?
And Jesus said, Elijah truly shall come first, and restore all things. But I say unto you, That Elijah is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them. Then the disciples understood that He spoke unto them of John the Baptist.
Even as Jesus was transfigured with the Elijah of old, He spoke of two more Elijah's, actually the two spoken of in the very last words of your prophets, the last two verses:
Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord: and he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.
The first Elijah (Elijah1) prophesied the turning the heart of the fathers to the children — that is the taking of the Gospel from the Jews to the Gentiles, under the anointing of the Holy Ghost, thus turning the Gentile world upside down. This was John the Baptist, the first Elijah, preaching the baptism of the Holy Ghost and fire (initially fulfilled on the Day of Pentecost).
As John prophesied of the Holy Ghost empowering the Nazarite Jews to take the Gospel to the Gentiles (children), so will the second Elijah (Elijah2) prophesy of the Gospel returning unto Palestine (fathers), to an equally-zealous band of Christian Nazarites awaiting the Lord in the last days. And as Jesus said, this would accomplish the restoration of all things — the Restoration of the Kingdom of God returning unto Jerusalem, unto those Nazarites who hear the truth of God echoing down through the ages: THIS IS MY BELOVED SON, IN WHOM I AM WELL PLEASED; HEAR YE HIM.
THIS WORD OF REVELATION FROM THE FATHER, AS IT SPOKE TO PETER, JAMES, AND JOHN, SHALL ALSO BECOME THE REVELATION WHICH WILL SUPPORT THE FOUNDATION OF THE LIVING TEMPLE OF THE LORD, MADE WITHOUT HANDS AND NOW ERECTED IN JERUSALEM — for God dwells in temples made without hands, during this New Dispensation. This Revelation shall now be received by all zealous Palestinian Nazarites, awaiting upon the Lord and his visitation during the days of the New Pentecost, beginning in this year, 5996.
When the Lord was taken up, forty days after his death and resurrection at Passover, his disciples asked him: Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? Of course this was their desire, but not their calling. Not until ten days later, when they were filled with the Holy Ghost, did they begin to understand the two-thousand-year scope of the Lord’s plan — to save the Gentiles through the preaching of the Gospel.
So the Restoration of the spiritual kingdom to Israel would actually take place during the ministry of the second Elijah, who would return the Gospel back, from the children (Gentiles) to the Palestinians (fathers) — of which all are Nazarites, called by God.
